Candidate Qualification Requirements for County and City elected offices:
The general candidate qualification requirements for most county offices in Tennessee are the same in every Tennessee county - regardless of whether you're running for county mayor or county tax assessor. There are exceptions for positions such as Sheriff and Road Commissioner, which require state certification, and some counties have positions that aren't used in other counties, such as Constable. Contact your County Election Commission office for the qualification requirements for the office you want to run in.
City governments have specific qualification requirements for candidates for elected office and these vary from city to city. To find the specific candidate qualification requirements for your city/town, contact your local City Election Commission or City Hall. These are listed under the City or Municipal offices in your local telephone directory.
