PRESIDENT
SANDRA BENNETT, Manchester, TN
Sandra has been a resident of Tennessee since 1996. She joined Business & Professional Women in 1997 and served two terms as president of Greater Nashville Business & Professional Women. During her tenure, Sandra began lobbying for the passage of the Equal Pay Remedies & Enforcement Act, working with State Representative Mike Turner and State Senator Joanne Graves. As a result of her efforts in helping to see this legislation passed, Sandra was presented with State Resolution # 955, recognizing her work on behalf of the women of Tennessee. Sandra served on the Board of the Nashville Women's Political Caucus as vice president of legislation from 2005 - 2007 and as vice president of political planning in 2008. She also served as vice president of legislation for the Tennessee WPC in 2008. Sandra was appointed to the board of the Tennessee Economic Council on Women by Governor Phil Bredesen in 2006. In 2008 she developed a political participation workshop called Everyday Politics for Everyday Women which she chaired as part of the 2008 and 2009 Tennessee Economic Summit for Women. Sandra retired at the beginning of 2009 and lives on the family farm in Manchester, TN. |

HOLLY SPANN, Nashville, TN
Holly is a dedicated women’s political advocate and significant contributor to Tennessee’s adoption law reform. She is past president of the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus, past president of the Nashville chapter of the National Organization for Women, and past state representative for Concerned United Birthparents. Holly has served multiple terms as vice president of legislation for both the Nashville WPC and Tennessee WPC. Holly currently serves as the Tennessee representative for the American Adoption Congress, a national organization comprised of individuals, families and organizations committed to adoption reform. She is president of the Davidson County Democratic Women, serves on the board of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and the Tennessee State Museum. Holly is employed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center. |

CHRISTI GRANSTAFF, MSW, Nashville, TN
Christi is the Deputy Director at the Tennessee Primary Care Association, a state-wide non-profit association of community health centers. She provides leadership for the Association’s programs and directs the Association’s government relations, public relations, and health policy activities. She has successfully advocated for millions of dollars in appropriations for the care of the uninsured at community health centers & has improved state health policy for community health centers and their patients. Christi is currently a member of the Tennessee Economic Council on Women Foundation and has served in various leadership positions for both the National Association and the Tennessee Chapter of Social Workers and the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus. She worked on Congressman Jim Cooper’s successful campaign for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional Seat and worked on his legislative staff in Washington, D.C. during his first several months in office. |

CAROL DANEHOWER, PhD., Memphis, TN
Carol is Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at The University of Memphis. She received her doctorate in Management from the University of Kentucky. As Associate Dean, Dr. Danehower is responsible for all academic programs (undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D.) in the College, including recruiting, admissions, advising, curriculum, and scheduling. Carol represents the Tennessee Board of Regents on the Tennessee Economic Council on Women and holds the position of Vice Chair. |

ANGELA WALLACE, CPS, Chattanooga, TN
Angela is a legal assistant for Miller & Martin PLLC of Chattanooga in the Estate Planning and Estate Administration area. She's a member of the National Association of Legal Professionals and serves as President of the Chattanooga Chapter. Angie was previously a member of International Association of Administrative Professionals and served in many officer positions including President, Vice President and Secretary. She has also worked with numerous charitable organizations and non-profits. Most notably was her active role with the Names Project -The AIDS Memorial Quilt. Along with sitting on the national Board of Directors, Angie held position at various levels on the local, state, national and international levels, managing thousands of volunteers, doing fund raising, organizing small to extremely large exhibits, holding training sessions and overseeing events. Angie is a widow after being married for almost 20 years and currently lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her sister, Joy. |

ANDREA DUNN, Smyrna, TN
Andrea has been a Registered Nurse for more than 20 years. She's currently employed as a Clinical Account Executive for IV Solutions, a Nashville company that provides home infusion services. She was Vice President of Political Planning - Republican for the Nashville Women's Political Caucus in 2009 and currently sits on that board as the Vice President of Legislation. Andrea is very involved in politics and has a keen interest in issues affecting women and families. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, watching college football and reading. |

CANDY TOLER, Nashville, TN
Candy is a graduate of Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and currently holds the position of Executive Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee and the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. Previously she was Executive Director for the State Board of Architects and Engineers. In addition to the Tennessee and Nashville Women’s Political Caucuses, Candy is a member of the Tennessee Lobbyists Association, CABLE and The Conservancy of the Parthenon and Centennial Park and she volunteers as a docent at the Parthenon in Nashville. |

JUDY GREENWOOD, Kingston Springs, TN
Judy is a grant writer for Centerstone Research Institute and a REALTOR® affiliated with Keller Williams Realty. She holds an MBA degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA, and a BS in Behavioral Science and Secondary Education from Tennessee Wesleyan College. In addition to her position with the Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus, Judy is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and CABLE (a 450-member organization of Nashville area business, government and non-profit leaders) where she serves on CABLE’s Development and Finance Committees. |

PENNY FRERE, Nashville, TN
Penny is the Executive Director of Tenn-Share, a position she has held since 1998. Tenn-Share, a statewide multi-type library consortium with over 550 member libraries, has as its mission to be a leader in developing and nurturing resource-sharing programs that provide Tennessee citizens with improved access to a wide range of information resources. Penny’s library positions in Tennessee have included reference librarian at Vanderbilt University’s Central Library and Director of Library Services at Motlow State Community College. Penny is a member of the National Organization for Women, the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus, the Davidson County Democratic Women and the Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood Association. After 16 years in Bedford County, she is happy to be living in Nashville. |

VIRGINIA THIGPEN, Gallatin, TN
Ginny is retired from Volunteer State Community College where she taught English and Speech for over 30 years, in addition to serving as Chair of the Department of Communication. Ginny has been active in politics since 1978 when she was elected the first female to serve on the Sumner County Commission. She is a member of the Hendersonville League of Women Voters, where she has been VP of Voter Services and the moderator of numerous debates. In 1997, she was appointed to the Sumner County Election Commission, serving as Chair for a term, and retiring after 12 years of service. She has twice served as president of the Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus and is currently serving her second term as an at-large board member. |

WENDY PITTS REEVES, Maryville, TN
Wendy is a Blount County Commissioner for District 4 in East Tennessee. In addition, Reeves is a licensed clinical social worker holding private practice since 1993 and founding Cove Mountain Counseling, an association of independent practitioners in Maryville. She is a graduate-level field instructor for the University of Tennessee’s College of Social Work and a former Adjunct Professor for Maryville College. Wendy is a founding Director of the Women’s Equity Foundation and past president of the Maryville Branch of the American Association of University Women. Her service also includes work on the Tennessee Economic Council on Women, Boards of the Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation, Blount County Children’s Home, Blount County Chamber Commerce, Tennessee Society of Clinical Social Work, and the Blount County United Way Allocation Panel. She is a graduate of the Leadership Blount Class of 2006 and the Experience Your Smokies Class of 2007. The Maryville Daily Times voted her one of “Fifty People Who Matter” in 2006, and the Tennessee Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers named her “Public Official of the Year 2008." |

LISA MUCHNICK POTE, Nashville, TN
Lisa manages the consulting practice as Director of Consulting Services at the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM). A masters level social worker, Lisa has been an active volunteer in the Nashville community, currently serving as president of the Nashville Women's Political Caucus, where she previously served as the Community Outreach Chair and as President Elect. Lisa also serves as the Chair of the Youth Council of the Local Workforce Investment Board and just completed her term as president of the Hands on Nashville board and as a Member At Large on the 2009 board of the Tennessee Women's Political Caucus. |

SHARON TAYLOR-MCKINNEY, Memphis, TN
Sharon is a Business Enterprise Specialist for the State of Tennessee Economic and Community Development Business Enterprise Resource Office, providing technical assistance and coordinating procurement, manufacturing and international trade initiatives for small, minority and women-owned businesses within West Tennessee. She was recognized as one of "50 Women Who Make a Difference" in 2008 by Memphis Woman Magazine and received the "Tennessee Long Haul Award" in 2008 by the Tennessee Alliance for Progress. Sharon is President of the Memphis Women's Political Caucus and also serves on the Board of Trustees for the UT Martin WestStar Leadership Association and on the Master Planning Committee for the City of Memphis Parks & Recreation Department. She has also been appointed by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to serve as a Delta Leader to the Delta Regional Authority. Sharon holds a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Memphis. Her expertise is in Economic Development and she is currently pursuing ED certification. |

JENNIFER RAWLS, Hermitage, TN
Jennifer is the Executive Director of the Tennessee Economic Council on Women. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law and practiced law for fifteen years. For ten years, she represented the State of Tennessee and its citizens in the consumer protection and bankruptcy areas as a member of the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. She has also worked in the products liability arena, juvenile courts, and the insurance defense field. Jennifer is also a writer and enjoys public speaking. She is a member of ToastMasters International and has written speeches for various events. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Middle Tennessee State University. She has also been involved in mentoring projects for law students and youth. |
