About Us

Everything you need to know about the Tennessee Women's Political Caucus is provided in the links on the left-hand side of this page.  Please take time to look through these links to get a good overview of who we are, where we came from and what we've accomplished.

Our Mission Statement outlines our purpose, our beliefs and our goals.

The video provided under the History link is powerful and will give you a real sense of the strength and determination of the women leaders who helped establish the Tennessee Women's Political Caucus.

The link for Legislative Accomplishments will provide you with a sample of various pieces of legislation the TWPC has worked on since hiring our first lobbyist, Mary Frances Lyle, in 1982.  At the bottom of the Legislative Accomplishments page is a link to see some of our earlier accomplishments, which includes groundbreaking legislation such as the passage of the Maternity Leave Act which the TWPC drafted and worked to pass giving women up to four months unpaid maternity leave and allowing them to return to their jobs without loss of benefits or seniority.  This was passed in 1987, prior to the national law providing the same benefits to all women in the United States.

The TWPC is very proud of the work we do, the accomplishments we've achieved, our place in Tennessee history and the many remarkable members from all across the state who continue the work of the Tennessee Women's Political Caucus.
